I decided we need an official welcoming committee. I'm tired of explaining the exact same thing to people over and over and over again. We can write something up and when a new name pops on the door, just shove it through the slot. And by we, I mean people far smarter and much more dedicated than me. And observant, that's a good quality to have when looking for new people.

....I think that explains pretty much nothing to me, but I can see how that would make sense at the same time.

I can give you the cliff notes version if you want?

Magical ship in the middle of no where with no way home. People pop on, people pop off. Sometimes people pop off and back on with no idea they were here before. Life in the real world goes on like we're still there. Got it?

A little bit, though I suppose there is no "bedside manner" when it comes to that. Doesn't seem anyway. Perhaps there should be a Frequently Asked Questions book in our cabins when we first arrive. Or even in the first pages of this journal as that was the first thing I looked through. I was somewhat disappointed there wasn't a "You are here" section.

There's a map outside the elevators with a YOU ARE HERE section, but that's just for the ship, not existence as a whole.

It's just that people show up all the time and ask the same question. And it's over and over and over again. And when I just answered it ten times before, I don't want to say the same thing over and over again.

I think that's a pretty good idea.

I'm tired of scaring new arrivals when I tell them what year I'm from.

I just don't tell them. You know Grandad figured it out all on his own, though? He's smarter than I ever gave him credit for!

Yeah, well. Grandad always thought in an unusual way, didn't he?

Unusual is putting it mildly.

I'm only a little weird.

Quirky.

It makes me interesting.

It would be much more exciting if we welcomed them by singing the explanation and then throwing glitter on them at the end.

I don't think you'd make friends with any new comers if you did that.

They would not be fun if they didn't enjoy it and I wouldn't want to be friends with them then.
